COSMIC, a product of Salt & Pixel Studio LLC, is committed to providing a website and restaurant management platform that can be used by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.
Accessibility is an ongoing part of how we design, develop, and improve COSMIC. As the platform grows, we will continue reviewing our website, application, features, and content for opportunities to improve usability and access.
Our Accessibility Goal
Our goal is to provide an experience that is understandable, navigable, and usable across a wide range of devices, browsers, input methods, and assistive technologies.
We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as a reference when evaluating and improving accessibility where reasonably applicable.
Because COSMIC is an evolving platform, some areas may not yet fully meet every accessibility guideline. We will continue working to identify and address accessibility barriers as the website and application develop.
Accessibility Features
We aim to incorporate accessibility practices throughout the COSMIC website and application, including:
- Clear and consistent navigation
- Keyboard-accessible interactive controls
- Visible keyboard focus states
- Meaningful page headings and content structure
- Readable typography and sufficient color contrast
- Alternative text for meaningful images where appropriate
- Labels and instructions for forms and interactive controls
- Responsive layouts that work across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
- Interfaces designed to support browser zoom and text resizing
- Reduced reliance on color alone to communicate important information
- Descriptive links and buttons where reasonably possible
Keyboard Navigation
We aim to make important navigation, forms, buttons, menus, and application controls usable with a keyboard without requiring a mouse or touchscreen.
As COSMIC continues to develop more advanced interactions, including sortable lists, dashboards, menus, dialogs, and other management tools, we will continue evaluating those features for keyboard accessibility.
Screen Readers and Assistive Technology
We aim to structure COSMIC so that common assistive technologies can identify important content, headings, navigation, form fields, status information, and interactive controls.
Accessibility can vary depending on the combination of browser, operating system, assistive technology, and third-party service being used.
Color and Visual Design
COSMIC uses a colorful visual system, but important information should not depend solely on color.
We aim to maintain readable contrast between text and backgrounds and to pair colors with labels, icons, status text, or other visual indicators when color communicates meaning.
Forms and Interactive Features
Forms, filters, dropdowns, dialogs, tables, dashboards, and other interactive features are an important part of COSMIC.
As these features are developed and updated, we aim to provide clear labels, instructions, validation messages, keyboard interaction, and understandable feedback when an action succeeds or requires attention.
Third-Party Services and Integrations
COSMIC may connect to or display functionality provided by third-party services, including point-of-sale systems, payment providers, website platforms, embedded tools, and other restaurant technology.
We do not control the accessibility of third-party websites, applications, interfaces, or embedded services. Their accessibility practices are governed by their respective providers.
If a third-party integration creates an accessibility barrier within COSMIC, we encourage you to let us know so we can evaluate whether there is a reasonable way to improve the experience.
Restaurant Content
Restaurants using COSMIC may publish their own menu descriptions, images, documents, PDFs, links, and other content through the platform.
Restaurants are responsible for the accessibility and accuracy of the content they create and publish. COSMIC may provide tools or guidance intended to help restaurants create more accessible digital content as those features become available.
PDFs and Downloadable Content
COSMIC may provide tools for restaurants to create or distribute PDF menus and other downloadable materials.
We recognize that PDFs can create accessibility challenges, particularly when documents are image-based or lack appropriate document structure.
Where practical, we encourage restaurants to provide accessible web-based menu information in addition to downloadable documents.
Mobile and Tablet Access
COSMIC is designed to work across modern desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
We pay particular attention to touch targets, responsive layouts, readable text, navigation behavior, and interface controls so restaurant teams can use the platform in different working environments.
Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is not a one-time project. COSMIC will continue to change as new features, integrations, workflows, and technologies are introduced.
We may conduct accessibility reviews, test common user flows, improve keyboard interactions, refine semantic markup, adjust color contrast, and make other changes as part of ongoing development.
